Extra-virgin olive oils
Olives&Oils was born from a love and interest in extra-virgin olive oil, which quickly became an obsession. A visit to an artisan olive grove in the hills of Catalonia made us realise we had to share the passion, and our obsession grew to the beginning of the business today. That single visit taught us the key attributes of highest quality and simply delicious extra-virgin olive oil:
Artisan production – Where the passion, respect and knowledge of the olive fruit are the foundations of the end product, and traditional methods of production are followed and respected.
Freshness – We aim to supply young oils produced with olives pressed within 24 hours of harvest.
Pressing
The first cold press is essential. Oils can be filtered, usually by mechanical means, or unfiltered. Unfiltered oils are generally pressed by traditional means, such as an old stone mill, and often by hand, although there are few of these presses remaining.
Extra-virgin olive oil from the Catalonia region of Spain always features highly in our selection, often offering what we believe to be the best.
Tap & fill system
Available at the shop is a selection of oils and vinegars sold from our distinctive stainless steel urns. Our tap & fill system allows you to purchase either a half or full litre bottle that we will fill with your choice of olive oil for general cooking, four varieties of extra virgin olive oil, including a premium quality ‘estate’-produced oil from Spain, or an aged balsamic vinegar. After the first purchase on the bottle is yours to bring back and pay only for your refill.

Infused oils
Infused oils can be a great way of adding the perfect finish to cooked dishes and salads, while still maintaining the fresh taste of extra-virgin olive oil.
The A.L. Olivier range from Provence is beautifully presented in 250ml tins and includes olive oil infused with lemon, herbes de provence, garlic and thyme, chilli, basil, and truffle, perfect for the store cupboard or as a gift.

Olives
As with all our products, quality is key and we ensure we source the very best olives available. We pride ourselves in using seasonal suppliers from all over Europe, including Italy, Spain, Greece and Portugal. After the olives arrive at the shop we carefully store them to ensure that ‘market fresh’ taste we know sets them apart. We stock a wide range of whole, stuffed and pitted olives and always have between 10 and 15 different types in store. If there is something particular you want, just drop us a line and we’ll have it ready for your visit.
