Cheese pairings: Goats’ cheese – Gouda, Chevre, Crottin, Picholin, Ranscombe, Raclette.

Chateau Roquefort, Sauvignon Blanc/Semillion, Bordeaux, France, 2007

A wine of intense colour, white and gold with green tints. The nose is clean and very expressive, characterised by citrus notes. On the palate the attack is frank, refreshing. The elegance of this wine makes a wonderfully racy aperitif and accompaniment to seafood and fish.

Cheese pairings: Goats’ cheese – Couda, Chevre, Crottin, Picholin, Ranscombe.

Vida, Organica, Torrontes, Argentina, 2008

Pale and delicate in colour with fresh and intense fruity aromas and flavours. Hints of apple, peach and herbaceousness lend this wine its intriguingly refreshing character.

Cheese pairings: Gouda, Ranscombe, Caerphilly.

Mont Albano, Grillo, Sicily, Italy, 2008 (organic)

Domaine de Vedilhan, Viognier, Languedoc, France, 2009

Domaine de Vedilhan has clean, appealing textbook Viognier aromas of ripe pears and peaches with a twist of Turkish Delight that merge into a palate of matching flavours. The fresh vibrant fruit is very neat, not over-the-top expressive as some Viogniers can become, but light, zippy and elegant.

Cheese pairings: Another well-rounded cheese wine, it will compliment most cheese, especially Brie, Perl Wen, Le Delice des Cremieres, Gouda, Caerphilly.

Caliterra Reserva, Chardonnay, Chile, 2007

The aromas of Caliterra Reserva Chardonnay reaffirm its quality with their evident freshness. The green tones around the rim of the glass resemble a young wine endorsed by the aromas of delicious tropical fruit like guava and banana and by a classical honey background, but yet with a mineral touch that makes it special. In the mouth it is dry with nerve and the medium body extends its perception.

Cheese pairings: Brie de Meaux, Perl Wen, St Nectaire.

Senorio de Sarria, Moscatel, Spain, 2008

Golden yellow colour. Clean clear and bright. Intense and complex nose (characteristic of the varietal), ample and sweet in the mouth. Lengthy finish showing raisin, peach and honey character, the aromatic and fruity essence of the Ribera Baja of Navarre. This naturally sweet wine is made from muscatel grapes from vineyards controlled by Senorio de Sarria. The vines are located in the southern Riber Baja of Navarre, a superior setting for growing this grape variety because of its luminosity.

Cheese pairings: Blue cheese – Stilton, Perl Las, Picos Blue, Roquefort.

Casal Mendes, Rose, N/V

A light pink, refreshing and fruity rose, bursting with aromas of strawberries, raspberries, pear drops and pineapples. On the palate Casa Mendes Rose is soft and fruity with a light sparkle. A delicious summer wine with nice fresh acidity on the finish.

Cheese pairings: Gouda, Ranscombe, Caerphilly, Parmesan.

Nostros Reserva, Pinot Noir, Chile, 2008/09

Lovely floral notes on the nose and smooth red fruits on the palate. A delicate and elegant wine from the Casablanca Valley.
