Alongside our regular favourites, we have a range of products in store that are only available at certain times of year, when they’re at their best.
Most of the olive oils in the shop are now new season. This means a flavour that can be stronger than more mature olives, with a young freshness that sets it apart from refined, over-processed oils. New season olive oil is one of our favourite seasonal treats.
Farmhouse cheeses often see big changes in their flavour at this time of year, with animals grazing on the lush new pastures having a direct impact on the milk produced and so on the quality of the cheese. Summer sees the arrival of new cheeses, including Mont Ventoux, a rare treat and really worth the wait. A summer version, Vacherin, is also now in stock.
Summer also means strings of French garlic and Breton onions, dried lavender and good paella rice reappearing, perfect for summer feasts.
Longer summer days lend themselves to particular treats and favourites. Whether it’s a handful of olives Niçoise olives with a cool gin and tonic, or authentic pesto for your barbecued chicken, we’ve got it. Summer also means salad and so our dressings and oils are essential for this time of year. Along with our range of extra virgin olive oils, we carry delicious pure walnut and sesame oils, along with more exotic oils, such as pistachio. Our new A. L. Olivier tasting oils are a great range of oils that create an extra dimension. During the spring and summer we always have a hand-picked selection of ready-made dressings too.
As always, we look for something special to feature and this year our lovely Tomatade from Agen in France is just the ticket – with it, perfect canapé creations are guaranteed.
